Andreas BRF received 1st Premie status, which is given to roughly the top 5% in the world, at the 2008 Keuring at Paris, Ontario Canada on September 19 2008. Andreas' dam is a true full Pedigree* (* has ster** predicate or higher on the motherline for 3 generations).
We nearly did not take him to the keuring due to an injury of his mother but at the last moment took him. We were glad that we took him so he could have the whole experience, besides becoming 1st Premie. He scored extremely well in his movement and over all development, so he will probably take after his mother in dressage in the future.
**Ster is awarded at keuring when horse is 3 years old or older and Ster reflects a rating of 1st Premie, 2nd Premie or 3rd Premie. When the foal is born, they receive Veulen Book (Foalbook) Papers (either unrated at keuring or registered by mail, which is therefore no rating or 1st, 2nd or 3rd Premie in the Veulen (Foalbook) registration. At 3 years old, they have the opportunity to go to a keuring (inspection) and move out of or remain in Foalbook, or move into Studbook or become Studbook Ster, 1st,2nd or 3rd Premie based on total scores of breed type, movement and conformation. They always like to see offspring out of a Full Papered* Mare.
***UPDATE****January/February 2009
Andreas is now jet black and we will update his photos very soon, when it is not too cold for us to take them. He is easy to lead and groomed almost daily and is super easy to ask for side movement with your hands, to simulate future legs on his side, does not care where you touch him, backs up easily, super easy to load in trailer. He loves his one on one time, interacting with humans and as well as, playing with our other stallion. He is a large stallion, in size, but very balanced over all and has great body control, as shown in his movements. Additionally, he does not use his size, in his human or horse interactions. His daily handling has resulted in his unflappable, attitude. He receives trims by the farrier every 6 weeks and has been worked up to standing in cross ties now, while being trimmed. His confidence carries through, with respect to not being herd bound, whatsoever, although he enjoys horse interaction and is a great buddy to our other stallion.
All of our Friesians are FPS/FHANA registered.
