Brecht, above is pictured at 6 months old is pictured further down her page at 1 year of age, where she already exhibits a longer fuller mane, forelock & tail than many adult Friesians.  Brecht's genetics hold the classic rich non-fading black with flowing mane & feathers, mostly seen in stallions, from dam and also rich non-fading black of sire, along with high trainability & character scores, with loads of action.

Brecht at Keuring

At the 2008 Paris, Ontario, Canada Keuring, Brecht went 2nd Premie.  It was a great day and experience to be at the Keuring.

She had a very good score of 35 and comments by judge on good Racial score (breed type), with comments on her already deep rich black colour and abundant hair, like her dam and dam's sire, Oege, better known as "Hairman".

Brecht is a great addition to Black Reign, and even beyond the show ring, exemplifies the outstanding Friesian personality, to a "Wow" level.  Her love and trust in her human friends, is truly amazing.

Brecht enjoys almost daily grooming, is led daily in and out of stable, stands calmly while being trimmed by farrier every 6 weeks.  We do not believe in raising filly weanlings in outdoor herds in the winter, as we feel there is a much greater things to be learnt, by being stabled, therefore she is used to a very busy stable environment and is stabled in her own box stall.  She is not herd bound and can be turned out by herself without any other horses or humans outside with her, for daily exercise.  She has been taught when being lead back into the stable to "whoa" briefly and "walk on", on almost every trip back into the stable.  Brecht was weaned with a 25 year old mare, quite social with other horses, and acts appropriate with other horses, but if she had a choice to hang out with a human or another horse, she will pick the human.  She is totally comfortable making decisions on her own, which we really like about her.  Brecht soaks up all the attention she can get and has stood to be braided.   Although she acts like an older horse with all her confidence, she is also very flashy. When she is led out of her box stall, she walks, stands, very proud, almost like she is walking out, on to a stage, with a "look at me" attitude, but not out of hand or out of control, ever.  Her forelock and tail are showing all indications that she is going to have a forelock down to her nostrils and ample mane and a huge wide, full tail, with her mother having the Friesian fairytale beauty of a stallion.

Brecht is a pleasure to have in our stable.

At Keuring

It's hard to believe that Brecht is growing up, and is now a year old, as she is the kind of filly that you wish would never grow up, as she just seems to know what is expected of her.  It's as if she was put on earth just to please her humans and she thrives on attention.

Brecht fan Boarnseim is a beautiful (Fabe 348 X Oege 267 Preferent) filly born March 31, 2008. Brecht has tremendous charisma and charm, who loves people and is so sweet.

Her sire, Fabe is the 2000 World Champion Reserve Friesian Stallion and also sire of approved stallion Sape 381, who was the sire of our Janka (aka Anky's) beautiful son, Mick.  Fabe's sire, Melle 311, who has produced several high level dressage horses. Fabe is a 3rd/4th level dressage horse, with his offspring rich black, excellent gaits and most noteworthy the powerful rhythmic trot, with very good use of hindleg. 

Fabe's scores for Stall Behaviour, a rare 9.0, his Character 9.0, Trainability 8.5, all amazing.
