Black Reign Friesians

Fentje (Doaitsen X Oege) filly, did very well at her Keuring, receiving a 2nd Premie, considering that the Judge, gave mostly 3rd Premies at the Keuring this year, with 19 foals shown only one was awarded 1st Premie.

Fentje stood calmly waiting her turn in the ring and was smart enough to find one of her owners, Lynn, standing amongst the crowd, even being back from the fence and mixed in the crowd and decided to walk over.  I guess this should serve as a high compliment when a 5 month old foal is bonded to her humans, she searches them out in the crowd.

Fentje is a very feminine beautiful faced filly, that is very self-assured.

Our wonderful Oege daughter, Jildou gave birth on March 23, 2009, to a filly by the World Grand Reserve Stallion at the January 2009, in Holland, Doaitsen 420 .  Her name is a West Friesian name, Fentje BRF, stamped with our stable letters.  Pronounced "FENT-CHI-AH" and when pronounced correctly, is a very pretty name and is not only Friesian but sounds very nice in the English language, as well.  Here are some pictures taken within the first few hours.

Fentje, is already a very interactive filly, that first when I arrived at the stable, first time I saw her, whinnied as her mother, Jildou greeted us when we arrived and even later whinnied totally on her own. When I tickled her nose she turned up her little upper lip, lipping at me, which is exactly what her half sister, Brecht does and her mother.

Fentje's coat is almost like a persian lamb coat, and is also exactly like, Brecht's at first.  She has abundant hair already with curly forelock, and mane, with a very wavey full tail.  She is sure to end up being like her mother & sister with the smooth as silk, jet black coat.

We spend loads of time with our foals, and watching them develop, so there will lots of updates.

Jildou's foals start out with a rough persian lamb type coat but when they shed out their foal hair, the final and the most important coat is the most shiny jet coat imaginable.  So we will keep the website updated with the changes.  Once the coat changes to the short black coat you will get to see what we already know is coming.  The wait is well worth waiting for.  Take a look at Brecht, the last year photos at Keuring after the rough coat fell out.

Fentje is getting a nice width between her front legs, at her chest and she is developing a round croup and becoming well muscled and straight.  I need to get a nice headshot photo, showing her dishy feminine face, which is starting to really exhibit lots of expression.

On wet days we stable the mares & foals, as it gets slippy and the foals have not found where the "brakes" are, especially when they are playing together and we don't want them crashing into the fences, which can have life-threatening and devastating results.

At the January 2009 Stallion Show in the Netherlands, the sire of our filly Fentje BRF, Doaitsen 420, became World Reserve Champion Stallion.  Doaitsen 420 is noted for long legs and he tracks well up under himself and crossed with Jildou's genetics with her sire, Oege, who alone produced 5 approved stallions and Jildou's 1/2 sisters produced 9 approved stallions, we think that this filly holds some pretty impressive genetics.
