Black Reign Friesians

Black Reign Friesians is located in the Great Lakes Region of Ontario, Canada, in beautiful Georgian Bay, 2 hours north of Toronto.  We are taking a breather from having foals in 2010.

We are a small Friesian stable consisting of 12 Friesians horses, where we concentrate on quality not quantity, with 4 Studbook Ster mares.

We have 5 youngsters under age 3 years, 3 being stallions.  One mare bred to Doaitsen420 and one mare re-bred to Tsjerk328, where we have a colt born February 23, 2009 at 2 a.m. Our 2008 Tsjerk328 stud foal Bojka, became 1st Premie and Reserve Champion in Kootwijk, Holland in July, where he earned 39 points and 8.5 for Breed Type.  He is absolutely stunning and we knew he was a winner from the time we laid eyes on him.

On March 23, 2009, our Studbook Ster mare, Jildou had a filly by the sire Doaitsen, the much sought after, the 2009 World Reserve Champion, in Holland, at the Stallion Show.

On September 19th 2008, in, Paris Ontario Canada, out of our own breeding, Andreas BRF, became 1st Premie, with 36 1/2 points with outstanding movement with a breathtaking trot at 8 out of possible 9 points and over all development of 8 out of possible 9 points.

On September 19th 2008, in Paris Ontario Canada, our filly, Brecht scored 35 points, already showing she is going to have abundant hair like her mother and rich black colour which the judge commented on.  She became 2nd Premie and just 1 point from 1st Premie.

The 2009 Keuring netted a 2nd and a 3rd in foals.

The biggest change for 2009/2010 was the purchase of a driving pair of geldings, Nico & Marco, by the same stallion as 2 of our own stallions. Tsjerk328.  They are shown below and are the lead pair in the 6 in hand.

The Girls will not be out done

Our second stable, on a different property, is a certified CFIA quarantine facility, where we are able to quarantine all of the horses we import into Canada and take them directly from Toronto Pearson International Airport, where they complete their quarantine under Canadian regulations, governed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

All of the horses fly in on, either MartinAir or KLM.  We have our own Veterinarian in the Netherlands that specializes in Equine Reproduction and we are set up to do all of our quarantine in Middenbeemster, the Netherlands, where the horses get exquisite care, and where they have worked many years with our Veterinarian.  Our horses go directly to the airport the day of their flight, as we prefer they don't have to get shuffled around too often, as opposed to being dropped off the night before at the horse hotel, near the airport and then re-loaded the next day into a trailer etc, especially when handling young foals and pregnant mares.

After we have confirmation of the estimated time of arrival at Toronto Pearson, we personally see the horses through the veterinarian inspection at the airport and personally load them on our trailer and take them directly to our own quarantine facility, where we make all the necessary arrangements for our Veterinarian and the CFIA Veterinarian, to draw the necessary blood and necessary swabs etc.

Our stables are designed with safety of the horses, first and foremost.  Each quarantine horse stall has a camera monitoring each horse during the entire quarantine process, with outside walls done with FRP-fiberglass Reinforced plywood to provide strength, cleanliness and a sterile environment. The fronts of the stalls are done with board made with re-cycled plastic, also for cleanliness. Each stall has the mattress system for the horse comfort, provided by "Stablecomfort" TM, which has recycled rubber, done in tubes and joined together, with a rubber one piece top layer, also easy to keep sterile.

Our stable has the capability to scan all microchips used in the horse or pet industry, both FDX-A 10 digit and FDX-B 15 digit and also 128KHz 9 digit encrypted microchips.

Our stable uses and endorses infra-red laser therapy. There are many lasers available but infra-red is truly state of the art.

New for 2010, we have added a Happy Horse Bale Buster Hay Steamer, which is an unbelievable hit with the horses.  We definitely endorse this product, as you add a full tied bale of hay into the steamer and set the timer for freshly steamed hay.

We also use and endorse Forco feed supplement for hindgut digestion and import it into Canada.  It is endorsed by Penn State University and UC Davis.
